Lasting Daily Briefing

Write for us

We welcome proposals that help readers understand how ideas, customs, language and shared knowledge travel or change. Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option.

What we welcome

We consider clear, original pitches for explainers, comparisons, historical context and thoughtful accounts of a particular idea or practice. Strong proposals make a focused point, show why it is relevant to general readers and avoid treating a complex tradition as a single, unchanging thing.

What to include

Tell us the proposed subject, the main question the piece will answer, its likely structure and the sources or expertise you would draw on. Mention any relevant interests or relationships that could affect how readers understand the piece. A short proposal is more useful than a finished article sent without context.

Before sending

We look for specificity, readable prose, sound sourcing and a distinct contribution to the subject. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time. Send your proposal through the Contact page; do not include confidential or sensitive material.

Our point of view

Continuity is made, not inherited intact

Ideas endure because people use them, question them and adapt them. We look at those changes without pretending that lasting means unchanging.
